Rob Brown, Director of CDI’s Business Ownership Solutions program, recently collaborated with College of the Atlantic professor and CDI Board member Davis Taylor to author an article for the Maine Policy Review. The in-depth, analytical article makes the case for cooperatively owned businesses as a solution to Maine’s economic challenges and includes policy recommendations.
The abstract outlines:

Staying on this course is undesirable, but traditional economic development fixes have had limited success. The authors examine the possibilities of making cooperatively owned businesses a central feature of Maine’s economy.
