Noemi Giszpenc, Executive DirectorIn an effort to help people better understand what CDI does – and why our work is so crucial – we turned to the best asset we have. Our staff. The people who work at CDI are, if we may say so ourselves, brilliant at and passionate about what they do. They’re also proud of their work, and we wanted to share their reasons why. Below is the voice of Noémi Giszpenc, CDI’s Executive Director:

“There are a lot of reasons I love working for CDI, ranging from the practical — how many part-time work-from-home challenging-and-fulfilling jobs are available for working moms? — to the spiritual — I love that in doing this work, I feel that I am doing my part to make the world a better place. And not in a band-aid, superficial way, but in a transformative and utterly necessary way. I personally don’t do a lot of on-the-ground consulting with developing co-ops, but I help create the conditions in which my magnificent colleagues can go out and do this tremendous work. And as the “face” of the organization, I am involved in partnerships and networks that let me glimpse the great work that others are doing throughout the country. A lot of the news one hears about the world is so grim, so it gives me great comfort and hope to know that by working for CDI, I’m contributing to people gaining the right and the ability to work out their problems together, patiently and constructively. It’s not a sexy new app–it’s just real progress.”
