Project Information

Mountainside Community Cooperative, Inc. is a 52-lot manufactured housing community that residents collectively purchased in December 2019. An infrastructure evaluation was conducted in November of 2019 as part of the pre-purchase due diligence. In 2021, RCAP Solutions produced a map of the community’s water and wastewater infrastructure and provided a list of observations and recommendations.

Mountainside’s highest priority at present is to connect to the Town of Camden’s municipal wastewater system. Currently, wastewater at Mountainside collects in a cistern on the southwest side of the community. Wastewater is then pumped and hauled to Camden’s wastewater plant for treatment. The Town of Camden will be the lead for this portion of the project, which will involve extending a wastewater main up Molyneaux Road and then connecting Mountainside’s system at the cistern location.

Mountainside Community Cooperative is procuring an engineer under this RFQ primarily to redevelop its water distribution system, which is upstream of the Town of Camden led municipal wastewater connection project.

Mountainside’s water distribution system upgrade project is currently on the Maine DWSRF FY24 Priority List. The first step towards redeveloping its infrastructure is to work with the procured engineer to begin design and permitting work using this program.
