Vaccination Clinic to be held at North Avenue Co-op

June, 16th
11:00am – 1:00pm

As the state of Vermont quickly moves towards their re-opening goal of vaccinating 80% of the population, the state has been working to set up vaccination clinics at larger VT mobile home parks, including at several VT ROCs.

One of these ROCs, North Avenue Cooperative in Burlington, will be hosting their vaccination clinic on Wednesday, June 16th. Board President Stephen Hamlin said that bringing a vaccine clinic in the community has been on his mind since vaccines first became available. This idea is coming to fruition after they were contacted by the Glover Ambulance service – working with the state of Vermont – to bring the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to the community.

“I’m glad we can do anything to help get us closer to normal,” said Hamlin.

The clinic will take place from 11am – 1pm, and will be open to NAC residents and any member of the larger Burlington community who would like to receive a vaccine. The board plans to distribute posters to local businesses and banks to spread the word that anyone is welcome to come get a vaccine that day.

Vaccinations Available to the larger Burlington Community

While Hamlin suspects that many in the community have already received their vaccination, he says that this will be a good opportunity for those who have not done so yet because of challenges such as limited transportation or access to the internet. Regardless of how many people are ultimately vaccinated during the clinic, Stephen is just happy to be able to bring this idea to life for the benefit of their cooperative and the larger Burlington community.

“We are so excited that NAC and other VT ROCs are hosting these clinics. These clinics are a great example of working together to support the larger community, which is what cooperatives are all about,” said Elise Greaves, CDI Cooperative Housing Specialist, who helps provide technical assistance to the community.

More Vaccination Clinics to Come

Other area Resident Owned Communities, including Westbury Mobile Home Cooperative in Milton and the Westbury Home Owners Association in Colchester, will be hosting vaccination clinics in their ROCs as well. The Westbury Mobile Home Cooperative will be hosting a vaccination clinic on June 22nd from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. The Glover Ambulance Service will be administering the “one shot” Johnson & Johnson vaccine to anyone aged 18 and up without an appointment. The Cooperative is located at 7 Kapica Lane in Milton. The vaccinations are open to the public.

Thank you, North Avenue Cooperative and the Westbury Home Cooperative for your leadership, for caring about community, and to all VT ROCs for all you do to create safe, happy and healthy communities!
